Usese of platnium? Atomic Mass? Atomic Number? Exact Melting point? Exact boiling point? Group/ family on the periodic table? Who discovered platnium? Origin of name? Normal phase? |
the atomic mass of platinum is 195.078. the atomic number is 78. the melting point is 1768.3 degrese celcius. the family is metal. Spanish explorers in 1538. the origin of the name comes from the name plata which means silver in spanish so platinum was called platina because it looked like silver.

How many electrons are in each shell of platinum? I really need this for a project, and it is due March 17,2008 which is Monday so please! help! |
Its too late for your project, but I just did the same one. The 1st level has 2, 2nd has 8, 3rd has 18, 4th has 32, the 5th has 17, and the 6th has 1, which equals 78 elecrons total.

hi i have the same problem, did you get any responses. my son has to make a 3d model also of plantinum and it has to have all the protons, neutrons and electrons. just wondering if you have received any ideas? thanks. i see this was posted in jan. what did you end up using for his model? |
Hey there. I'm a senior in high school and I just had to build a model of platinum for my chem class. I used a styrofoam ball, metal wire used to support flower stems to hold the electrons and pom pom craft balls for the 78 electrons. I drew in the nuetrons and electrons on the styrofoam. I found a styrofoam cone for the base. Hope this helps! I can send you a pic if you want a model, it took me over 7 hours to complete. good Luck!
