no it was found in germany and it was origanally called old nicks copper cuz old nick was the devil and copper was fake but it was nickel so they thought that the devil was playing a trick on them

Nickel was used in anceint Syria but it was not "discovered" until the element was isolated by a swedish scientist

i asked the same question. when you find out tell me.

The answer is 28 electrons, 28 protons, and 30 or 32 Neutrons. Most nickel atoms have 30 Neutrons, but some have 32, 33, or 34. The ones with more are called isotopes.

Why does nickel have its name?

Also:

What makes the name significant?

Nickel discovered in 1751 by Swedish Chemist Baron Axel Fredrik Cronsted. He was trying to extract copper from niccolite ore but instead got a shiny metal (nickle) in his suprise he called the false copper Kupfernickel (German word) meaning "Old Nicks copper" old nick is another name for the devil.
